Building Han - Part 2

The shirt is almost constructed. Because it’s such a stretchy fabric it’s a pain in the ass to work with so Jess will be handling the adjustments.

I’ve decided to hand embroider the red bloodstripe down the pants which may end up taking longer than anything else. The majority of the stripes seen here were done while watching—surprise!—Return of the Jedi.

Building Han - Part 1

Spent a long day in the fabric district, but I have (most of) the materials for my Han Solo costume. I found some $2/yard denim for the pants and decided on a stiff black denim for the vest. I think it’s actually supposed to be a cotton twill but the texture is about the same here. For the shirt I ended up going with an off-white spandex. Yes, it’s stretchy as all hell but I’m making a shirt out of it so it doesn’t really matter. I also went by a leather store to pick up some remnants to use for the belt/holster.

Fortunately, a lot of the research on how to make a Han Solo costume has been done for me. A brief google search pulls up all kinds of photos and notes on the original costume. I’ve got a good chuck of work ahead of me. In particular, I’m going to hand-embroider the blood stripe down the legs which will probably take a week to do.
